Position Overview:
The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is seeking a Strategic Communications Associate to support the NAM's growing strategic communications practice. This is an exciting position dedicated to enhancing the NAM's rapid response and news monitoring capabilities as well as assisting with additional duties in support of the strategic communications team.
The successful candidate is an organized and motivated self-starter with thorough knowledge of the media and digital landscape and experience in media relations, social media strategy, traditional and online media monitoring and research.
This requires someone with the ability to work as part of a team and be agile and responsive in a deadline-driven 24-hour news cycle. The candidate must have strong drive, good judgment and discipline to juggle multiple internal and external priorities, projects and deadlines.
This position also supports several administrative duties for the vice president of communications, including scheduling, travel coordination and occasional meetings management.

- Lead the NAM's News Room, with responsibility for traditional and social media monitoring, formatting and distributing media alerts to NAM stakeholders, preparing print, social media, online, TV and radio media compendiums and creating analytics reports with actionable recommendations.
- Assist with the development and execution of a robust rapid-response strategy using traditional earned media and digital/social media tools and tactics.
- Manage the NAM's library of media/content subscriptions, assist in updating social media channels and making basic updates to the NAM's various web properties.
- Assist the strategic communications team in fielding and vetting incoming media calls, staffing media interviews and drafting communications and research briefing materials.
- Drive communications content through the internal editorial process, with attention to detail and timeliness.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the vice president of communications.

We are looking for Team Players who meet the Following Criteria:
- Ability to work as part of a team and be agile and responsive in a deadline-driven 24-hour news cycle.
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, political science, marketing, English or related discipline or equivalent work experience
- One to four years of communications experience, with preferred emphasis on rapid-response, traditional and social media monitoring, analytics reporting and research.
- Robust knowledge of the traditional media, social media and digital landscape.
- Experience and familiarity with both legislative and executive branches preferred, but not required.
- Collaborative style and demonstrated effective written and verbal communications skills essential.
