Summary:
The Brand Strategy department at the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is looking to complement our talented team of designers, writers and artists with a Graphic Designer Intern. This is a chance to learn how story-tell, shape the brand DNA and design for the largest manufacturing association in the country, which represents many of the most innovative and tech-leading companies in the world--companies such as Salesforce, Toyota, Dow, Ecolab, Nike, Intel and PTC.
The ideal candidate is a highly creative designer with a sharp eye for details.
Purpose:
The National Association of Manufacturers is passionate about keeping the United States the world leader in manufacturing. The NAM offers a variety of challenging and rewarding internships including policy advocacy, communications, legal affairs and membership marketing and research to raise college students' awareness of career opportunities in manufacturing. Internships are designed to support the students' academic objectives with real life work experience at the NAM. With headquarters located in Washington, DC students will have the unique opportunity of working in a world-class city that is ranked the top museum destination in the world. DC is also home to some of the most famous monuments and memorials in the world. Each one marks a historically significant person or event--and more importantly, together they showcase the history of the United States.
NAM internships challenge students to hone their business skills. Each student will work with their internship supervisor to develop a project plan that will showcase the student's talents and learning experiences. Typical projects include creating and maintaining a blog, researching and reporting findings presented to staff, maintaining an education journal and other similar type activities. At the conclusion of the internship program, all students will have tangible work products to add to their work portfolios.
Internship Requirements:
Development of a Scope of Learning Objectives Plan
Development of a work project
Presentation, oral or written, of work project when completed
Internship Qualifications:
Outstanding academic record in relevant course work
Two references, preferably from academic advisor or faculty member of school attending
Excellent critical thinking and analysis skills
Organizational skills and project management skills (the ability--with coaching--to take a somewhat complex assignment and figure out how to define and manage the project.)
Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPointproficiency
Some experience in a business environment
Other criteria will vary according to the departmental objectives of the internship
