Job Title: Director, Workforce Initiatives Division: Manufacturing Institute Reports To: Vice President, Strategic Initiatives FLSA Status/Level: Exempt, Professional Prepared Date: February 2021 Position Summary: - The Director, Workforce Initiatives, is a member- and public-facing position and is responsible for managing MI program activities, writing case studies and reports on the best practices in manufacturing workforce programs, and supporting the development of new programs. This person will work with the MI Workforce team on the build of a program focused on second chance hiring pathways through partnerships with key local organizations. The role will also support the development of a recognition system for industry credentials and their alignment to career pathways. A successful candidate will be someone that wants to work on creative solutions to the greatest challenge facing U.S. manufacturers. You’ll be joining a small team of entrepreneurial problem-solvers designing programs and creating partnerships to attract and prepare the manufacturing workforce.
Day to Day Responsibilities: - Support the development of content including program collateral, toolkits, social media content and other thought leadership including white papers and presentations to highlight the MI’s workforce development programs and partner with communications and other teams on content delivery as needed.
- Manage program activities and partner relationships for activities under the MI Workforce portfolio.
- Build and manage our engagement with a coalition of partners to achieve second chance hiring goals.
- Support the research and development of a manufacturing credential recognition system in partnership with the team.
- Conduct research on workforce trends and best practices that will assist in the development and deployment of workforce programs
- Assist in planning and executing convenings, webinars and conferences pertaining to workforce programs on behalf of the Manufacturing Institute
- Review, update, and maintain databases for assigned programs/projects.
- Communicate and collaborate with external partners, including partner non-profits, education institutions, and government agencies.
- Develop and manage project plans, project budgets, reporting schedules and formats, and development and delivery of key deliverables.
- Participate in public speaking engagements, representing all pillars of the MI.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university;
- 4-7 years related work experience, including experience and interest in:
- Workforce development
- Building a new training model for industry
- Familiarity with third-party credentials
- Familiarity with technical education system
- Experience with coalition creation and management
- Prior association experience preferred;
- Excellent writing skills with experience writing for an organization;
- Must be well organized and self-motivated, with the ability to work well under pressure and able to manage workload to meet deadlines;
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, perform multiple tasks using various software applications;
- Strong editing and proofreading skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Comfort and proficiency in public speaking;
- Proficiency in Word for Windows, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and familiarity with or ability to learn Web content management applications;
- Team oriented and customer service focused with the ability to interact regularly with staff, executives, and other stakeholders.
