The Manufacturing Institute is looking for a motivated, energetic, solutions focused leader to build, maintain and expand the MI’s operational systems and structures and drive execution, to compliment and support the growing workforce development portfolio. You’ll be joining a team of entrepreneurial problem-solvers designing and deploying programs and creating partnerships to attract and prepare the manufacturing workforce of tomorrow and upskilling workers of today.
The Vice President, Operations, is an internal lead for the MI team and partner facing position, who is responsible for ensuring the strategic vision of the organization is executed day to day. This includes designing and implementing systems to facilitate the day-to-day operations and annual delivery of the Institute’s program portfolio as well as working in coordination with the program team leads to ensure that our operations can meet our program and growth goals. The successful candidate will be able to balance competing internal demands and priorities while supporting the full range of MI initiatives and enabling the program teams to fulfill stakeholder commitments and expectations.
A successful candidate will bring passion and ideas to solving the Institute’s mission to grow and support the manufacturing industry’s skilled workers for the advancement of modern manufacturing. The MI team is charged with being focused on executing tasks and ensuring program deliverables and goals are met, and sustainable solutions are deployed, while building partnerships and delivering a high-quality experience.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Working closely with the Executive Director, Lead efforts to synchronizing project planning and execution of MI initiatives to achieve organizational efficiencies in support of the goals inspiring, educating and empowering the manufacturing workforce of today and tomorrow.
Leads the creation of systems and processes to drive efficiencies in the program work flows. This includes working with program leads to develop and deploy data, software and other tracking systems to support program objectives and to facilitate the metrics capture and reporting that will facilitate the growth of our programs as well as ensure our ability to meet funder requirements and fulfil the MI’s mission.
Serves as the Institute lead for the Creators Wanted campaign operations and ensures alignment of the campaign elements with the MI’s priorities and initiatives.
Leads coordination with the MI program teams to develop and execute MI events to meet stakeholder or program requirements. Oversees the MI event execution team while ensuring coordination with the NAM meetings team and balancing MI program priorities.
Lead the creation and deployment of operational systems to support revenue models.
Works with the Executive Director to track program budgets and financial reporting and tracking.
Lead organization-wide efforts to build operational and editorial calendars and timelines, builds and monitors systems and shared databases/collection processes.

Experience in a combination of roles including program operations, communications, fundraising, corporate relations, non-profit, trade association, or the strategy practice of a major consulting firm is highly desirable.
A minimum of seven-ten years of experience, including extensive C-suite contact with the ability to effectively work with Fortune 500 CEOs and senior management. Basic understanding of workforce and education development programs preferred.
Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, marketing and/or communications.
Persistent ability to make things happen; ability to set and maintain priorities and overcome obstacles.
Demonstrated ability to work with and leading a team.
Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Prior association experience preferred;
Experience with marketing and sales of programs preferred;
Experienced in project management and implementation;
Proficiency in SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Salesforce and familiarity with or ability to learn Web content management applications;
Must be well organized and self-motivated, with the ability to work well under pressure and able to manage workload to meet deadlines;
Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, perform multiple tasks using various software applications
Strong editing and proofreading skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Excellent writing skills;
Comfort and proficiency in public speaking;
Team oriented and customer service focused with the ability to interact regularly with staff, executives and other stakeholders;
