The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is seeking a VP, Business Relations and Partnerships to work closely with the Executive Director (ED) to build, maintain and expand the MI’s strategic partner and funder base as well as develop and enhance strategic partnerships. This position will play a key role in enhancing the work and the growth of the MI to enable our program to reach more people across the nation. Join the NAM and Make an Impact in the Following Ways:
•Manage, retain and grow a portfolio of business and stakeholder engagements. Negotiate sponsorships, contributions and develop engagement strategies, and engage with c-level executives. Cleary articulate the MI’s value proposition and impact priorities.
•Think critically about how we can strengthen our communications with key stakeholders and partners about our activities – who we deliver information to and how – and help expand the methods and tactics for these communications.
•Conduct research and stay abreast of key issues of concern for stakeholders. Design an appropriate strategy of engagement for each individual stakeholder and work with multiple teams within the MI to develop and deliver information and proposals to further our goals. Touch points within the stakeholders range from communications and HR managers to company and foundation executives including, but not limited to the CEO, Foundation Executives, etc.
•Understand the leadership roles and reporting structure of each key entity and develop a strategy to engage the c-suite of these companies if they are not already involved with the MI and our programs. Recognize and decipher challenges posed by companies’ internal CSR priorities and develop engagement and growth strategies. •Effectively communicate the needs, interests and business challenges, and priorities of stakeholders back into the organization. Identify the right opportunities to engage other MI programs and resources in identifying and furthering the stakeholder’s interests.
•Recruit, develop and involve c-suite executives to the MI Board of Advisors. Develop an engagement plan for the Board of Advisors to grow and deepen their connection to the MI’s work and ensure that their key objectives are being met. Work closely with these executives and communicate with them on their key priorities. Engage these leaders to help grow the MI.
•Work cooperatively with other organizations and serve as a key leader and speak about MI programs and objectives. We are looking for Team Players who meet the Following Criteria:
Experience in a combination of roles including program operations, communications, fundraising, corporate relations, non-profit, trade association, or the strategy practice of a major consulting firm is highly desirable.
•A minimum of seven-ten years of experience, including extensive C-suite contact with the ability to effectively work with Fortune 500 CEOs and senior management. Basic understanding of workforce and education development programs preferred.
•Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, marketing and/or communications.
•Persistent ability to make things happen; ability to set and maintain priorities and overcome obstacles. •Demonstrated ability to work with and leading a team.
•Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Telecommuting is allowed.
