The NAM is committed to building innovative digital content platforms to serve our constituents. How we use our digital presence to engage an array of audiences is critical to the organization’s success. We are looking for a Digital Content Editor to support these efforts.
The Digital Content Editor is a motivated, deadline-driven self-starter who understands the digital content lifecycle, thrives under pressure and operates with a strategic and rapid response mentality. Candidates for this position must have a hands-on approach to their work and must be comfortable rapidly writing and creating interactive material to engage the NAM’s many audiences across multiple platforms, including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, email and NAM web properties. This position reports to the Digital Managing Editor.
Make an impact in the following ways:
Evangelize content strategy and content guidelines as defined by the Digital Managing Editor when making content decisions
Collaborate with the digital team and key stakeholders to create must-read, snackable website, social media and email content based on news, data and audience interest
Scour internet on an ongoing basis, watching and predicting trending conversations and devising ways to create engaging content to add to the conversation productively
Edit and post content in the content management system and social media platforms
Manage editorial infographic placement for your beats; repackage existing NAM content for further audience engagement
Work closely with the NAM’s in-house creative and video production teams to create compelling multimedia content
Brainstorm and implement content ideas and new digital approaches to storytelling
Apply SEO best practices
Assist with paid social execution
Maintain relationships with key stakeholders
Entrepreneurial, highly organized and detail-oriented professional
Superior judgment when it comes to engaging in online conversations and communities while representing your organization
Creative storyteller who knows how to package digital content
Must have experience working within content management systems and social platforms
Must have experience managing content for brands and executives
Demonstrated cross-platform digital knowledge, especially SEO, social media, email and mobile publishing best practices
Demonstrated cross-platform digital analytics knowledge, especially pertaining to Google Analytics, native and aggregated social analytics platforms, including Sprout Social and Simply Measured
Experience working with CRM systems, including Salesforce, to interpret data a plus
Experience working with content management systems, including Drupal and WordPress
Must be flexible to learning and working within new software/platforms
Education and Experience:
B.S./B.F.A. degree in journalism, communications, design or a related field preferred
3+ years of digital content management experience highly desired; background at an online news organization a plus
